Camden Council’s Repairs team is offering the opportunity for up to SIX Camden residents, Camden care leavers or former Camden Secondary School students aged 16+ to become Apprentice Craftspeople in one of the following apprenticeships: • Carpentry • Electrician • Multiskills Whilst working, apprentices will also attend college once a week to complete an apprenticeship qualification in the relevant trade (listed above) Apprentice Craftworkers will assist in carrying out building repairs, maintenance and renewals. This will range from emergency and other routine reactive repairs on numerous sites daily to single site programmed repairs and refurbishment work in occupied and void housing properties and other premises. Apprentices will work towards the successful completion of a higher apprenticeship in relevant construction trade within training programme timeline lasting between 2 – 4 years (depending upon selected trade) after which the trainee will be a qualified Electrician, Plumber or Carpenter. Applicants must be willing to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service Check Successful applicants without a current driving licence must be willing to take driving lessons and will be expected to hold a valid driving licence by the beginning of their final year in their apprenticeship. Essential skills include: • Knowledge, understanding and commitment to Health and Safety at Work principles • Ability to identify and diagnose building defects • Ability to carry out a range of building maintenance work • Excellent time keeping and reliability – ability to work within given deadlines • Good oral and written communication skills • Ability to solve problems and use initiative

Eligibility Criteria

16+ Camden resident, Camden care leaver or former Camden Secondary School student. You must have been resident in the UK / EU for over 3 years. Able to meet the minimum entry criteria for the apprenticeship scheme. Be dedicated to completing the entire training programme, attending college one day per week.
